- Hi, welcome to my home pages. My name is Grant Bingeman; I live in Plano, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. I hope you will drop me a line sometime (DrBingo@compuserve.com). As you know, you can put anything you want into your home pages. So that's pretty much what I did. By the way, I update these pages only sporadically, but you should hit the reload button on your browser screen to be sure you have the latest version if you have visited here before.
- I am a Writer/Engineer/Programmer/Boatbuilder/Audiophile
- I am listed in Authors in Print, and was an English Lit major although my degree is in Electrical Engineering (University of Virginia). I love to write, and have been in print about 100 times in various periodicals and professional journals. Dr Bingo is a pseudonym I was tagged with 20 years ago. I spent eight years in school, but don't have a PhD.
- I've been in the broadcast industry for about 25 years. Broadcasting is a very incestuous business, and everybody knows everybody else, or so it seems. Anyway, we all have big egos. I wish it weren't that way, though.
- I have Ibanez and Fender strats, an Ibanez bass, keyboard, various horns, harmonicas, percussion stuff, effects racks, four amps, some sound and video recording equipment, plus some friends that drop by occasionally to make loud noises. My wife doesn't allow me to build boats in the backyard anymore (the last one was 43 feet long), so I compensate by turning up the volume. To be fair, I have to admit that I built a sailboat in the living room the first year we were married, before we hardly even had any furniture, and at one time we had three boats and a windsurfer. So now we have a lot of furniture, and no boats.
The photos in these homepages were mostly translated to GIF by simple video camera close-up and a TV card capturing into 24 bit PCX. I re-mapped them to a GIF format using a Stucki color reduction to 256 colors quantized and dithered. Some of the graphics files are not from photographs, but straight from video tape or live video camera, so their resolution is somewhat better.
