Donald L. Moir became a lawyer in 1986. Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, he earned a Bachelor of Music degree (1981) followed by a Bachelor of Laws degree (1985) at the University of British Columbia. He lives in Richmond, BC, with his wife and one child. Before joining his partner and brother Stuart A. Moir to form Moir & Moir in 1991, Don's early law career involved mostly corporate finance and real property transactions. That strong financial and commercial background equips him well to deal with professional and entrepreneurial families going through a marriage breakdown. Don also brings to his practice of family law the values of his Christian faith. He is an advocate for child-centred parenting and fair financial arrangements. Known for his preparation and thoroughness, Don has appeared in the British Columbia Provincial and Supreme Courts and the Court of Appeal.
In 2004, we changed our firm name to INC Business Lawyers, to tie in better with our business start-up website, www.incorporate.ca, and moved our main office to Richmond, BC, just off Highway 99 by Steveston Highway and No. 5 Road. We maintain a satellite office in Vancouver, BC for convenience of our clients.
Stuart A. Moir became a lawyer in 1988. Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, he received a Bachelor of Arts (Honours, Economics) from Queen's University, in Kingston, Ontario, and his Bachelor of Laws degree (1987) from the University of British Columbia. He lives with his wife in Vancouver. An entrepreneur, Stuart founded his own law firm before his brother Donald L. Moir joined him in 1991. Stuart's law practice now focuses on business start-up law.
Now retired from the practice of law, Donald S. Moir, Stuart's and Don's father, is available for consultation. Formerly one of the senior family law practitioners in Canada, Donald S. Moir appeared in the senior British Columbia trial and appeal courts and also in the Supreme Court of Canada, on a wide range of matters arising from marriage breakdown. He was a pioneer in family mediation and an internationally known scholar. His professional activities included:
