Shots of my old FT541.
Full side view showing the SuperTrapp exhaust with White Brother's header and the lowered front end. The motor was punched out to 541 cc's using an Arias piston from White Brothers with a White Brother's medium lift cam. The piston was rated at 10.5 to 1 compression (which made starting hard.) On the right shot you can see the Mikuni 38mm round-slide carb, which required a custom throttle cable to retain the stock throttle. It had a K & N filter with a K & N crankcase filter with a custom bracket. Front forks were polished, added Progressive heavy duty springs, spacers made from PVC pipe, and welded and drilled smaller oil dampening holes. Tires were new, V rated Bridgestone Battle-axes, dual compound. The starter motor was just replaced. The bike dyno checked at 41.5 bhp with all kinds of torque. I installed a braided steel front brake line, tapered steering head bearings, heavy duty clutch plates and clutch springs (JC Whitney), and Koni rear shocks with adjustable dampening. The man I sold it to has since installed a compression release, which greatly improved the starting with the high compression.
This shot, you can see the F-1 clip-on handlebars, which have bar-end mirrors. The paint was a Chevrolet teal green metallic, with the decals added later without clear coat.
