| Paulina I is composed of only 16 colors, the WinDoze default. If you like the way it looks, sign off now. Unfortunately, many WinDoze installations are limited to this quality even when enough video memory exists to permit much better results. The last IBM-PC video standard to be limited to 16 colors was CGA. Any VGA card with over 300K of memory can (and should!) do better. | ![]() |
| Paulina II uses 256 colors. If it looks the same on your screen as Paulina I, you should try installing video drivers with more color depth. Unfortunately, even 256-color (8-bit) drivers probably won't use the same 256 as in this image. Most use a 256-color set defined by WinDoze regardless of the content of the actual image, so you will see a speckled image as the web browser tries to dither the available colors to simulate the real picture. | ![]() |
| Paulina III uses 16.7 million colors (24-bit "TrueColor"). It should display well if your video driver supports 65K (16-bit) or 16.7M (24-bit) colors. With the proper video driver, Paulinas II and III look almost alike, with Paulina II being only slightly "posterized". | ![]() |
