Philosophy on Breeding

While we attempt to conform to the standard of the English Mastiff as much as possible, we keep in mind
that a Mastiff is a 'working' dog! Too much mass, and they end up with no endurance and have health issues. Our
dogs are all bred to be as athletic as possible, and still 'fit' within the standard. This often means that the
biggest mastiff is not the best choice for our breeding plans. Most of our females range in size from 27"-31" and
weigh 135#-170#. Our males go 29"-32" and weigh 160#-210#. These are real measurements, no exaggerations! (The actual
breed average for females is about 160# and males go 185#). This means that we go more for head-shape, body length
and movement, and raw mass last. If we can get both then we are really happy. Our boys Payne and Gabriel are both
excellent example of form and size being in balance.
We breed to produce the best English Mastiffs possible. We will not provide stud service to any females
that do not have something of value to give to their offspring. If we do not have a male that is a good match
for your girl we will suggest another breeder that can help you.
All girls MUST have a minimum of: AKC registration, a Veterinarian certificate of health, a recent (2-4 weeks)
brucellosis screen, and evidence of a clear vaginal culture and sensitivity, and be PRA cleared. All girls must
have had an x-ray of hips or hips and elbows. The results must be verifiable by the Vet that did the x-rays,
PennHip, GDC, or OFA.
