Clydesdale Hockey Club

Est. 1902

The club was founded in 1902 then being known as Cartha H.C. In 1960 they moved to  Clydesdale Cricket Club in search of better quality grass pitches and changed their name to Clydesdale. Since then the club has hosted a number of international matches on the grass pitches in the 60's , 70's and 80's. In the club 1983 hosted possibly the last international match on grass in Scotland when Scotland Ladies played Ireland.

The club received planning permission to extend the clubhouse and to build an Astroturf pitch on the grounds at Clydesdale receiving funding from the National Lottery for this. The Astro Turf pitch was completed in May 1997 and the clubhouse work was completed in June 1998. This ambitious project was part of the club's plans to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the parent club.

The completion of this project was rewarded when the club hosted the Celtic Cup U21 International Series and it is hoped the club will once again be able to host other representative matches.
