Welcome to my personal web page. I am Professor of Technology Management at Aston Business School, Aston University. My areas of teaching are operations and technology management and my research is concerned with issues relating to production systems design, quality and reliability management, technology management and the transfer of technology between industrialised and developing countries, especially in the Asian region. I am a member of Aston Business School's Technology and Operations Management (TOM) Research Group, which in 2005 was recognised as being among the top 50 global centres of research on Management of Technology by the International Association for Management of Technology. I have authored and co-authored several books as well as numerous articles in my areas of specialisation, while my research support has been provided by the UK research councils as well as several other funding bodies. I have also undertaken various consulting assignments for the European Commission (DG RDT and DG Trade) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

My industrial experience includes periods in the automotive components and electrical equipment industries. Previous academic appointments have been with the former Wolverhampton Polytechnic (now Wolverhampton University) and a secondment to the Malaysian National Institute of Public Administration where I was a training consultant. Currently I am an Adjunct Professor with the University of South Australia (International Graduate School of Business) involved with supervising doctoral research in Singapore and Hong Kong. I have also undertaken several contracts as a faculty member at the China-Europe Management Institute in Beijing and the China-Europe International Business School in Shanghai. My various research, teaching and administrative activities have taken me to a number of European countries as well as many other countries in the world, including Australia, Bahrain, Brazil, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Libya, Malaysia, Mauritius, Morocco, Singapore, Taiwan, Ukraine and USA.

I hold MSc and PhD degrees from the University of Birmingham. I am a Chartered Engineer, a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, (the international honour society for business) and a member of several professional bodies including the International Association for Management of Technology (IAMOT), the European Operations Management Association (EurOMA), the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS), the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). I am a member of the IAMOT Board of Directors and Publication Committee as well as a past President of EurOMA. In May 2006 I was presented with the IAMOT Award for Distinguished Achievement in Management of Technology.

I am General Editor of "Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management", published by Emerald, and serve on the editorial advisory boards of several other academic journals.
