PART III A student claimed that an object in his
hand was a rock. Mr. Visco said it was a mineral. What would you
do in order to settle this argument ?
PART IV You will be shown some slides and asked questions
concerning rock and mineral formation.
PART V The minerals diamond and graphite are both composed
of the element carbon, yet their physical properties are completely different.
Why ?
PART VI There are three kinds of rocks: sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic. You need to write three, complete essays that explain how each of these rocks are formed, how you can identify them, and why they look the way they do.
WARNING: At a minimum, this should take you at least 2 pages. You cannot simply list terms. You need to EXPLAIN things in a way that someone who knows absolutely nothing about rocks would be able to follow your thoughts and come away with a clear understanding about rocks. Its as if you are taking everything you have learned in the past 3 weeks, and reducing it into 3 essays.
