Working progressively in combinatiing Canon and eponym lists.

1. The time of reign of Kandalanu.

   The previous file, forward working, is giving as termini for the beginning of reign of Kandalanau: April 1, -648 and July 1, -646. The Canon Basileion, backward working, is offering spring -648 and spring -645. So the Canon termini have to be abandoned in favour of the termini of the forward reckoning: April 1, -648 and July 1, -646. So I could have three possibilities as to the reign of Kandalanu: an accession year between spring -648 and spring -647, one between spring -647 and spring -646 and one between spring -646 and spring -645. Below it is stated why Kandalanu's last year was between spring -626 and spring -625, anf that it was either his 21st or his 22nd one, so that his accession year was either between spring -648 and spring -647, or between spring -647 and spring -646. So the forward reckoning TPQ of his beginning of reign (April 1, -648) may be maintained, the forward reckoning TAQ of his beginnin

2. The transition between Kandalanu and Nabopolassar.

   • The termini post and ante quem of the Kandalanu end of reign are, as to the Canon Basileion, autumn -626 and autumn -624. As to this forward reckoning the termini of his beginning of reign are April 1, -648 and July 1, -646. Kandalanu having reigned 22 years I am gettng the following.

     So the termini of end of reign, as to the forward way of reckoning, are October 1, -627 and January 1, -623. The Canon Basileion termini (autumn -626 and autumn -624) are closer, so they have to be maintained. Taken the implicite assumption of the Canon Basileion that there was a normal transition of reign between Kandalanu and Nabopolassar, that transition might have had place in one of the following ways.

   • A 'normaL' transition of reign however was not present. Number 2 of the Babylonian Chronicle Series^[2]   is stating that there was no king in Babylonia for a year, and that Nabopolassar acceded the throne on Arachshammu 26 (November). This changes the table above into the following one.

     The so-called Number 2 of the Babylonian Chronicle Series^[1]   is stating, as far as readable, many events having found place during the last part of the interegnum, frum Ululu 12 (August/September) till Arachshammu 26 (October/November).

   • Because (see below) the Nebuchadrezzar accession year was identical with Nabopolassar 21st year^[5] , (spring -604 spring -603), the Nabopolassar accession year fell between spring -625 and spring -624, so that the scheme above is restricted to one possibility (in fact to two: two possible names of the Kandalanu last year), as follows

   • the fact that the last year of reign of Nabopolassar ran from spring -604 till spring -603, according to the backwards way of resconing handled previously ,
   • the fact that Nabopolassar is given (as to the Babylonian Chronicle series number 5 line Obv. 9^[1] and the Canon Balileion), 21 years,
   • the fact that the Nebuchadrezzar accession year was identical with Nabopolassar 21st year^[5] ,
