Working progressively in combinatiing Canon and eponym lists.

  1. The time of Esarhaddon. From a previous file it may be concluded that the termini of the beginning of reign of Esarhaddon are January 1, -680 and March 1, -678. He reigned 12 years according to number 1 of the Babylonian Chronicle Series6, 13 years according to the Canon Basileion. It is explicilty told of Esarhaddon that he acceded the throne in February/March (Addaru 18/28), (so he had a short accession year), important events of each of his years of reign are mentined, and that hie died in October/November (Arachshammu) of his 12th year. So he reigned 11 years and ca. 8 months, so the termini of his end of reign are October 1, -669 and December 1, -667. That's why I do not accept the 13 year figure of the Canon Basileion. Its termini involved are autumn -669 and autumn -666. The TPQ of autumn -669 may be specified into

  3. The transition of reign between Shamash-shuma-ukin and Kandalanu.

So the termini post and ante quem of the beginning of reign of Shamash-shuma-ukin are October 1, -669 and December 1, -667. According to the Canon Basileion Shamash-shuma-ukin reigned 20 years, which is providing the following.

beginning of reign time of reign end of reign
    October 1, -669 20.5 April 1, -648
    October 1, -669 19.5 April 1, -649
    December 1, -667 20.5 July 1, -646
    December 1, -667 19.5 July 1, -647

So as to the above the termini post and ante quem of the end of reign of Shamash-shuma-ukin are April 1, -648 and July 1, -646. According to the Canon Basileion those termini are spring -648 and spring -645. So the Canon Basileion TPQ of spring -648 is specified to April 1, -648, the Canon Basileion TAQ of spring -645 has to be abandoned in favour of July 1, -646. Then I am getting the following.
