Rara Avis Lodge is a new way to save rainforest, as well as learn about it, while you experience the richness and splendor of the most diverse environment on earth. Rara Avis is designed to show that rainforest is a valuable economic resource that should not be destroyed and that can produce substantial economic benefits for the surrounding communities.

In Rara Avis, you will be in a remote virgin jungle­­true wilderness­­bordering Braulio Carrillo National Park and the Zona Protectora La Selva. At 2000 feet (700 m.) above sea level, the climate stays cool and comfortable year­round (72 F or 22 C). There is a lot of rain (it's a rainforest!), but mosquitoes are not a problem. Because of the cool temperature, there are few mosquitoes.

Rara Avis Lodge offers a rustic, comfortable lodge deep in the heart of the jungle. Every group is accompanied by an in-house, experienced biologist guide, enjoys three large Costa Rican family-style meals per day, and sleeps in comfortable beds (1 to 4 people per room in bunk beds). The lodge is clean and is equipped with flush toilets and hot showers.
