Rancho Naturalista is a 125acre ranch which lies in the premontane rain forest at 3000' in the Caribbean zone. Over 400 local bird species have been recorded. Visiting birders are always impressed by the tremendous variety of birds to be seen here. The resident guides will ensure that you get the most of your birding vacation. Or, you may relax on the balcony, where over 200 species have been recorded, and let the birds come to you.
The flower surrounded lodge and two cottages look 22 miles across a valley to Irazú and Turrialba volcanoes. Restless clouds paint an ever-changing view. Each bathroom has hot water showers, and a washer and dryer provide proper laundry service. Balanced nutritious meals are served family style in the dining room.
Rancho Naturalista is a full service lodge. This includes all transportation (San José - Rancho Naturalista - San José), local tours led by the resident naturalist guide, all meals, lodging, horseback riding and maid service. No bottled drinks are included, and park entry fees are extra.
