Mangrove Forest Reserve

Location & Size: Puntarenas Province in the Tilarán Mountain Range. The Reserve has: 22,000 Ha.

Characteristics: Difficult to penetrate, only by boat or kayak.

Fauna: Wading birds such as roseate spoonbills.

Reptiles: Crocodiles and caimans.

Flora: Wet tropical forest, mangrove forest and fresh and saltwater marshes.

Importance of the reserve: Protect largest remaining mangrove forest.

Visitor facilities: No visitor facilities.
