Location & Size: Puntarenas Province, on the Pacific Coast, between Punta Uva and Punta Piñuela. The national park has 110 Ha. (Terrestrial) and 5,375 Ha. (Maritime).
Characteristics: The coral reef is one of the most important attractions of the area.
Fauna: Several species of reptiles, birds and mammals.
Marine animal life: Invertebrates and fishes. Several species of whales have been reported such as: melon-headed whales, sperm whales, common, stripped and spinner dolphins.
Flora: Since this is mostly a marine park, the corals are predominant, five species of corals have been identified, as well as seaweeds.
Importance of the Park: Protects major environments such as sandy beaches, rocky shorelines, cliffs, islands, rocky reefs, Punta Uvita tombolo and a porous coral reef.
Visitor facilities: No visitor facilities. Camping not allowed as there are no camping facilities available.
