The more obvious choices for machines are two and three axis overhead routers and two and three axis lathes. To give a flavour of what is easily possible, 'WOLFCRAFT' XY tables have been converted to these configurations, see 'Mini machine construction'. The two axis machines can be assembled from locally available units and converted to stepper drive using the 'Compucut' kit of brackets /pulleys/belts to enable the fitting of your standard size 23 motors.

These adaptations are very easy to build up and give a feel for creative programming through the making of say, doll's house furniture or ornately scrolled / engraved trinket boxes etc. Once the user sees what is easily possible using these 'kitchen tabletop' machines, it is likely that workshop sized versions will soon follow.
