Harry S Truman 1945 - 1953

Harry S Truman (the "S" was not an abbreviation, possibly as a result of a family argument) was a plain-spoken man thrust into an era of momentous decisons. His decison to use atomic bombs on Japan still draws fire, and his decison to fire General MacArthur during the Korean War also served the fires of controversy. On his desk was simply "The buck stops here."

Franklin Delano Roosevelt 1933 - 1945
Dwight David Eisenhower 1953 - 1961
