Dalyan & Caunos
Ancient site of Caunos, Lycian rock tombs, boat trip through reed beds, mud bath. Visit the world famous and celebrated golden beach, protected breeding ground of the Ceretta-Ceratta turtles. Includes boat tour, lunch, guide services, refreshments and transport.

CAUNUS and DALYAN

An opportunity to spend a day on the Dalyan river and to enjoy either a mud or a hot sulphur bath, a walk through the ruins of ancient Caunus, a wonderful view of the magnificent 4th century BC tombs which have been cut into the rock face and a swim from what has now become known as Turtle Beach.

After a reasonably short coach trip you will board your Dalyan boat with the first stop just across the river at the Ancient Site of Caunus, after a tour around this splendid site we make a stop at the hot sulphur pools and mud baths (TOTALLY OPTIONAL!!) giving you the opportunity to sample the supposed healing powers of these somewhat smelly waters~ (Don't wear your best swimmers in the mud pools, as they are likely to get a bit grimey!)

After this, the boat winds its way back to the village of Dalyan for a lunch stop this is the ideal time to get shots of the amazing carved rock tombs on the opposite river bank. If you have binoculars then it is worth taking them along with you.

Dalyan, the tombs of the Kings

After lunch you will see the famous Turtle Beach, the subject of many television documentaries as this is one of only two places in the Mediterranean where the sea turtle lays her eggs, and where, because of this, all development has been stopped. We move on to a smaller more private beach for an afternoon of sun - do be careful of the goat - he's not fussy about his food and very partial to a towel or two! After a relaxing afternoon on the beach the boat takes you back to Dalyan ready for the short bus trip back to Akyaka.

This tour in particular is best done with a group as you may not be able to visit everything you wish to see if you go it alone.
