Grand Cayman
OVERVIEW
Grand Cayman is the largest of the Cayman Islands with an area of 76 square miles and a population of around 30,000. Most of the over 500 banks registered in the Cayman Islands are here. Several US Airlines fly here daily and cruise ships make regular stops. George Town, the capital of the Cayman Islands, is on Grand Cayman, along with most branches of the Government.
THE BEACH
Grand Cayman is known around the world for its famous Seven Mile Beach. There's no doubt that while you're here you will swim or relax on Seven Mile Beach. It's enjoyable to spend a lazy day in the sun or enjoy swimming in the tranquil, crystal clear sea. For early birds, an early morning walk along the beach is a wonderful experience. The beaches of Grand Cayman are spectacular and are enjoyed by thousands of visitors each year.
SUNSETS
Take time after a busy day relaxing in paradise to spend a few minutes and watch the warm Caribbean sun set slowly into the sea. Look carefully and you'll see the green flash as it sinks out of sight. It only lasts a second so don't blink! The sunset is best seen from a westward facing stretch of coast, but no matter where you happen to be, just keep your eyes open as you enjoy some spectacular scenery.
SNORKELLING & SCUBA
Scuba, snorkelling and other water activities are perhaps the islands' main attraction. For divers a world of utmost beauty and splendor awaits. If you're not a diver you still have several options - get certified while you're here, take a trip in one of the glass bottomed boats or enjoy an airconditioned submarine ride. It's a great alternative for non-divers to experience the entrancing underwater world.
SUNDAYS ON GRAND CAYMAN
Plan your sundays so that you can spend time in one of our many churches. We have so many different denominations that you're sure to find the one you're looking for. Religion plays an important role in the Cayman Islands and has throughout their development. After church enjoy a delicious lunch at one of our many restaurants. Spend a relaxing afternoon in a hammock in the shade of a large coconut tree and you're sure to have a sunday you won't forget.
NORTH SOUND & STINGRAY CITY
Visit North Sound...offering a wonderful time for everyone. Enjoy snorkelling in the Coral Gardens and enjoy a fresh seafood lunch. Most trips include a stop at Stingray City. This unique underwater experience is one you will not soon forget. Set in just a few feet of water, divers and swimmers alike enjoy the opportunity to take part in the rays underwater dances. Only in the Cayman Islands are the rays as friendly as the people.
FISHING
If fishing is more to your liking, then you're in for a treat. There are several fishing operations on the island that specialize in everything from deep sea to shallow water. You're guaranteed to have a great time, and more than likely you'll enjoy showing everyone your catch of the day.
