MWCSCC Announces Ruth Shenton Journalism Scholarship

On November 10, 1996, the area motorsports community lost a very good friend,"Den Mother" Ruth Shenton. Because of the tremendous contributions Ruth made over the many, many years of work on The Stopwatcher, the Metropolitan Washington Council of Sports Car Clubs (MWCSCC) wants to honor her in a very special and lasting way. The MWCSCC is therefore announcing the establishment of the Ruth Shenton Journalism Scholarship. The concept of the scholarship is to involve Washington area college journalism students by inviting them to write articles for The Stopwatcher on MWCSCC member clubs' autocrosses, rallies, road races, car shows, and other events. At the end of the year, a panel of judges would select the year's best article and award a cash scholarship. The award would be determined by the amount of available funds, keeping in mind that the scholarship would be awarded on an annual basis.
