This amazingly cool type of American traditional dance is known only
to about 5,000 insiders. How it has remained such a well-kept secret is
beyond me!
Here's the deal:
-
- live music: usually American (wild fiddling) or intense Irish
tunes
- easy: if you can walk, you can do this stuff (I'm serious)
- low cost: usually less than a movie
- no partner needed: the dance figures naturally mix everyone
No special outfit, just comfortable clothes. No tragically hip types.
No experience necessary. It's a natural way to meet friendly people
and build community.
Chances are real good that it's in your neighborhood;
