 Avoid Common Tax Return Errors 

 

Check all arithmetic in supporting calculations.
 
Double check your tax reference number.
 
Claim age allowances and married allowance where appropriate.
 
Claim deductions for relevant professional subscriptions paid.
 
Employees receiving 'fringe benefits' and reimbursed expenses should obtain details from their employer and include these on the return. Note that where these are tax deductible they should also be claimed in the deduction box.
 
Ensure any home address amendment is marked.
 
Remember to sign and date the form.
 
Check the form against the copy of the previous year's return to ensure all sources of income and claims are included.
 
Submit the form within the time limit.
 
Finally, keep a photocopy of all pages with entries and supporting documents.
