Aldermaston RUFC match report HOME Aldermaston set off into the new season with a satisfactory start. Aldermaston RUFC Match report 15th April 2000 Saturday 2nd September 2000 Aldermaston opened their year 2000 season with a trial match. The opposition was provided by near neighbours Kingsclere. Before the play started both clubs staged a photo session organised by the Basingstoke Gazette and Mr Nick Mathews, Director of Rainbow Windows presented Aldermaston with their new "away" livery. The pitch was is excellent condition thanks to the care and effort of the AWE Recsoc groundstaff. Holiday comittments and injuries meant that Kingsclere were a little depleted in some positions but Aldermaston were able to make up the shortages from their large squad. The game was a standard trial of four twenty minute sessions and Club Captain Richie Owen made sure that every one got an even share of the game. In terms of winners and losers Aldermaston scored 4 tries to Kingsclere's one. Aldermaston's try scorers were Scott Hume, Ian Martin, Andy Seaborn and Paul Stevens. Two of the Aldermaston tries were converted to give them a points total of 24. Aldermaston first XV are away to Wheatley in the Tetley Vase competition while the seconds travel south to play Fareham Heathens.
