This is a typical frame from the program RODS.BAS. It shows two fast-moving rods passing each other. At the moment that the ends of the rods co-incide, flashes of red and blue light are emitted. This is surely one computer program that anyone could write.

The picture was produced on an EGA screen, but you are probably looking at it with VGA. EGA is essential because it has a frame buffer which is not available in VGA if the program is written in QBasic.
