The theme of the website which you can enter below is actually the computer simulation of quantum mechanics, but you can also find computer simulations of the Kelvin-Helmholtz Instability and the Von Karman vortex street. To run this simulation you need either PKWare's PKZIP or Microsoft QBasic.
If you have PKZIP available, then click here. Download KHI.ZIP, unzip it and run KHI.EXE to see a computer simulation of the Kelvin-Helmholtz Instability. We recommend a fast computer (80486 DX or better), but you will see that this is a 'virtual-time simulation' which adjusts itself to your computer speed over a wide range of speeds.
If you click here you will find a list of QBasic programs and also instructions on installing QBasic as a viewer. QBasic is bundled in with MS-DOS 5.0 and later versions of MS-DOS. Once you know how to install QBasic, then click on the page 'Second Front' to find the Kelvin-Helmholtz Instability simulation.
