Welcome to the home page for The Farrands in France.
This is a place where our friends and assiduous surfers of the Web
can check in and see what my wife and I are up to while we are in France.
You will see several things on this page. A photo of my wife and me; one of
our newly married oldest son, Matthew, and his bride, Kristen, as they set forth
on a cruise;
one of my youngest son, Andrew, at the table on a recent train trip
from Zurich to Venice, one of the most beautiful journies in the world;
my grandson, Max (who masquerades as a Basset Hound),
a pooch we purchased
when we tired of waiting for our sons to produce one the natural way
(that was in the BK era -- before Kristen); and the house we have rented
in Southeastern France (in the Dordogne region), known affectionately by
the owner, Mellen Candage, as Lacoste.

We will begin this adventure in October 1998 when we take up
residence in Lacoste. It will come to a close six months later.
Where will we be? Well, from Paris go to Bordeaux and hang a left.
Keep going through Bergerac (where you can stay at the Hotel Cyrano,
if you want) to Le Bugue. You're almost there. (But more on that later.)
Each month I will be adding some thoughts to this site about the trip and
what we have been doing and with whom. One principal aim of this adventure,
at least for me, is to relax, to recharge batteries that are in dire need of
it, and to reclaim my enthusiasm for things. And to see some good friends in Europe.
Why France? Because it is a country we very much like. The people.The food.
The way of life. Why six months? Because we can.
We hope you like this site and will take a moment to drop us an e-mail.
Just use the connect button to speed your e-pistle to us. We'd love to hear
from you. And we do hope you like this diary of our trip.
