Keith Allen Daniels


Keith Allen Daniels, a member of the Science Fiction Poetry Association from 1979 to 1998, has been publishing poetry since 1972. Listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in Writers, Editors and Poets, he has been called “one of the foremost science fiction poets of our time” by David Kopaska-Merkel, editor of Dreams & Nightmares. His poems have appeared in alphaDRIVE (a CD-ROM magazine), Analog SF, Asimov’s Science Fiction, Lost Ages, Hadrosaur Tales, Dark Planet, Pirate Writings, Weird Tales, Recursive Angel, Poets of the Fantastic, Ibn Qirtaiba, Narcopolis, Once Upon a Midnight, and numerous other books, anthologies and magazines. He has given readings at Barnes & Noble, several World Science Fiction Conventions, the Southwest Writers Workshop in Albuquerque, the World Fantasy Conventions in Monterey (1998) and Corpus Christi (2000), and the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco. In addition to winning the National Association of Independent Publishers’ Fallot Literary Award for What Rough Book in 1993, his work has been nominated for the Nebula Award, the Rhysling Award (15 times), the Pushcart Prize and the Clark Ashton Smith International Poetry Award. His poem, “Satan is a Mathematician”, was awarded the 1995 Rhysling Award (Honorable Mention) in the Short Poem category. Another poem, "Her Technologies", was awarded the 1999 Zine Guild Award for Best Science Fiction Poem. He is the editor of With All of Love: Selected Poems by James Blish (Anamnesis Press, 1995) and the long-awaited Arthur C. Clarke & Lord Dunsany: A Correspondence (Anamnesis Press, 1998).

Daniels works by day as a materials engineer in the Mojave Desert, but his soul belongs to the night.
