BVE New York Subway #7 Flushing Line Route (Completed !!)
While eagerly awaiting waiting for Microsoft's Train Simulator I discovered and became
infatuated with this Freeware Train Simulator from Japan called BVE.
Inspired by the excellent Glasgow Subway BVE route created by Robert Glass (see Vern's web page for link) I figured if
anything it was a good way to get some idea what we could be in for with Microsoft Train Simulator add-ons. Also since
it didn't seem like anyone was doing a US route for BVE I thought I'd give it a try.
Download the #7 Flushing Line Route for BVE from here
NOTE: !!
I have gotten a ton of email from people asking how to install BVE.
For those of you who have never used or installed BVE Train Simulator before go to the web sites below and read
the instructions on how to install BVE.
These sites have the most detailed information on how to install and start BVE online.
Of course if you've read the BVE page above, and are still having trouble feel free to email me for help.

FAQ's:
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Why does the background have mountains in it, NYC does not have mountains ?
Yes I know, but my lack of artistic talent required me to leave the mountains there. When I removed the mountains
and tried to change the sky. I noticed the route seemed to always be going uphill. That was because the clouds were
placed too low in the image. So back went the image with the mountains as at least the sense of up and down was correct.
For now pretend they are really tall Trees :)

Why are the speeds displayed in KPH while the speed signs are displayed in MPH ?
It was a trade off, BVE's digital speed display did not support MPH, but I preferred the digital speed display.
Which from what I've been told is a somewhat recent addition on the NYC Subways. I will be making available
a Train file that has an analog speedometer gauge with the speeds in MPH very soon (thanks to Phil Dominguez).

The signals are very unlike the NYC Subway system signals.
We know ! a limitation of BVE, sorry.

The Stations don't have Signs on the walls or poles.
A tradeoff, the stations are already very detailed when compared to other routes for BVE. Plus the route
already has 150 objects, station signs would add at least 20 more objects to the route. If someone wants
to volunteer to make em, and add them, feel free.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Can I use objects, and code from the #7 BVE route for my own routes. Can I put the route on my website
for download.
Yes, feel free to use whatever parts of the route you like (giving me credit would be nice though).
The only limitation is the photo of the R36 Train in the Train file (train.bmp). You'll need to ask
David Pirmann the copyright holder for permission to use the photo.

Why are there few or no Streets between the buildings / Blocks.
The buildings are there to create the feel of going through a City, but they along with the stations
provide a lot more detail than is normally seen in BVE routes. Frame rate concerns limited how much
detail to add along the route. I felt the buildings themselves provided the necessary feel.

Note the addition of the 3rd Rail. I have made the 3rd Rail part of the Track .b3d file, which
should make it usable on other NYC Subway routes.
40th St Lowery
40th st is the same Station type as 33rd st. Except I have changed colors, etc. This was the main reason
the Stations are made mostly with coordinates rather than bitmaps. It makes it easier to reuse the
objects where similar and simply change colors and add little extra's etc.

Main BVE site maintained by the author himself Mackoy, simulator
software is available for free download.
BVE English Speakers Site A good alternate from
the main site for English speakers includes some helpfull basic instructions in English as well as an english support forum for BVE.
An excellent english resource describing of what BVE is, and how it works is available at Verne's rail pages. There are also links to
several routes to download. Also check out the Rail resources forum for some discussion about BVE, which can accessed from the
main site.
CroTrainz has a good library of BVE routes converted to English (Necessary as many Japanese
routes do not load properly on the english version of Windows).
