Sgt. Harry Keen, RAF Montrose

We are trying to trace any info on Sgt. Harry Keen,
who served at RAF Montrose in the last war, and latterly worked as an engineer
at Glaxo, Montrose. He retired in 1961 after nine year's at Glaxo, and
he was also a well known ambulance worker. He was injured in a bombing
raid at the aerodrome and was invalided out of the RAF in 1943. He died
in August 1967. This information is for his son Peter, who now lives in
Newcastle. If anyone remembers Harry please get in touch and we will pass
on the information. In our top picture Sgt Keen is seen in front of one
of the then new Miles Master Mk1 advanced trainers powered by the Rolls
Royce Kestrel engine, which were used at Montrose from 1940-45.
Now a word of caution in handling old
pics like these. Most people nowadays write the info about the picture,
the subject, etc., on the back in modern ball-point pen. Unfortunately
the ink in these pens contains acids that will eventually eat through to
the front of the picture, destroying the image. If it has to be written
on the reverse, then a soft pencil should be used. Better still, write
the info on a separate slip.
