A Great War Mystery
An American built Curtiss 'Jenny' from Montrose Air Station, pranged somewhere locally. By the fresh look of the machine, and the unfinished British 'roundel' on the wing top it would appear to be a new machine which has recently been uncrated and pressed into service, or it has recently been repaired. Either way those responsible for its present condition would not be popular! I think it is at what is now Morton Park, at the east end of the old Patton's Mill. The buildings and wall are in the right place, and the trees used to run beside the mill, but are now cut down. Presumably it suffered engine failure and the pilot tried to put it down in the mill drying greens or in the large links area between the mill and the beach. Exact date is also unknown, but the postcard says Montrose. Any other ideas?

Thanks are due to Tom Valentine for the original copy from his large postcard collection, I hope you have visited his site, it is well worth it.
