Bomb disposal experts cleared away over 3500 items, mostly 10 pound practice bombs, from the beach at Lunan Bay, a local beauty spot, in 1997. During the last war a bombing range was established here, used by aircraft from RAF Montrose for level and dive bombing. Later in the war rocket armed Hurricanes also used the range. Recent coastal erosion had uncovered the site and brought the bombs to the surface. (MRP copyright).
