RetroFist Amendment History

These are changes that have been made in the light of comments and play-testing. I am trying to keep these to a minimum but it's hard to get it right first time.

Version Card Change Commentary
1.1 Abysmal Daughter add "which affect cards in play". This is to align her text with that of The Prof.
1.1 Chimp Shack add "opponent's" See the flavour text - the idea is to copy the enemy's modus operandi, not your own.
1.1 Jimmy Wai add "Or turn to turn a card which turns and maintains and choose any legal target." He won't take no for an answer.
1.1 Nine Cuts add "May not be sacrificed." He's the one doing the cutting, not the Vivisectors…
1.1 Poison Needles replace "is turned" by "turns". So that the toasting only happens when a card is newly turned - the intended effect.
1.1 Tanbi Guiawu replace "an opponent controls 5 or more" with "your opponents control 10 or more". A better effect for the multi-player game - how will the safe level of characters be shared out?
1.2 Desire Manipulator replace "you" with "a card that you control". Add "It breaks off the attack if forced to do so." To allow for Fox Pass, Tortured Memories etc.
1.2 Encephalon Screamer add "Other". So that it does not kiil itself when it attacks.
1.2 Gearhead Add "Tactics". She was given Mobility because her art indicates she is immune to the Illusory Bridge. But she needs an offensive boost too and Tactics will allow for more probing attacks.
1.2 Power of the Great Add "that you control" Should not allow you to turn other players' Masterminds too.
1.2 Safehouse Add "unless it is attacking." Leave the Safehouse and you're fair game.
1.2 Silver Band Replace "All Silver cards gain +1 Fighting for each other Silver card in play." with "If there is another Silver card in play, all Silver cards gain +1 Fighting." The first draft was better than intended - Silver Bands' fighting progressed 5, 7, 11, 17. Now it is more restrained: 5, 7, 8, 9…
1.3 Arcanoworms Clarify adjacency between players. Those worms get everywhere!
1.3 Nine Cuts Replace "once per turn" with "once during that player's turn". Add much commentary. The intention was always that he could only be brought into play during the hiring player's turn. This has been made clearer. Other timing issues have been clarified.
1.4 New Manifesto Replace "draw an equal number of cards from your deck" with "draw cards from your deck - up to one less than the number discarded". Without this, New Manifesto has very little opportunity cost and Jammer players would put 5 in every deck. Also, this is more consistent with the "90%" in the flavour text.
1.4 Water Sword Add "when it is returned to your hand". If there is no opportunity cost then you would put 5 in every deck.
1.4 Arcanostriker Add "Subject character gains" To make the wording consistent with other states.
1.5 Gorilla Warfare Add "If the site cannot be burned, then it is smoked instead." To clarify what happens with Turtle Island and the like.
1.5 New Manifesto Reword as "After discarding, you may draw up to X cards from your deck where X is the number of cards discarded." Reworded for clarity.
1.5 Illusory Bridge Add "its owner may turn it to " and "Ghosts, Spirits,". Turning for effect makes the operation of the Bridge clearer. Ghosts and Spirits covers many characters who ought to be immune to it - they fly or are insubstantial.
1.5 Ice Falcons Deleted from RetroFist. Its RetroFist restriction violated the rule "accentuate the positive." As it now has protection from the Illusory Bridge because it is a Spirit, the RetroFist addition is no longer needed.
1.6 Tanbi Guiawu Add "At the start of your turn," and "May not be sacrificed." The start of turn clause makes the card operate in a consistent way with the Destroyer and Mooks. The sacrifice clause prevents Vivisector abuse.
