Work
I work for one of the largest international law firms. I work in the Information Systems department. It's not a bad job and offers it's fair share of challenges.
Mainly, I coordinate all of the technical training for our office in Houston. I enjoy showing people how to more efficiently use a computer. It's amazing that with all of the technology which is supposed to make life easier, it really makes it harder. Everyday is a learning experience...for both the users at work as well as myself.
I also help with the maintenance and operations of our network systems. We have about a dozen or so servers, mostly running Windows NT 4.0. Banyan Vines is our Network OS. We run StreetTalk NT on the NT servers and we have one remaining Native Vines server. We were the first office to migrate from pure Native Vines servers to the StreetTalk NT servers. It wasn't too bad, it just took a while for us to get the configuration setup for StreetTank for NT. The Houston office is normally at the forefront of technology in our firm. Helps keep us up to date with the newest toys and to help plan the future technology issues for the firm.
