ODYSSEY TO ALEXANDER(TM) is a multi-player game that covers the growth of the Greek city states from 800 BC to the time of Alexander the Great in 330 BC. Throughout the game, all players are subject to the influence of the Persian Empire. The ultimate goal is for a player to lead its states to a unified Greek world that is poised to take over the Persian Empire. Historically, Alexander the Great began the conquest of the Persian Empire in 334 BC after his father Phillip had succeeded in uniting the Greek mainland under his banner.
ODYSSEY TO ALEXANDER(TM) contains 156 cards that include events, military units, and calamities.
ODYSSEY TO ALEXANDER(TM) features a game system that relies heavily on player interaction. Players need to make alliances with other players in order to have free reign of the board and improve their chances of moving and fighting in a given turn. Alliances, once made, are typically, hard to break unless a player has the correct cards or a special impulse to back stab an ally.
The Persian Empire is a quasi-random influence throughout the game. During movement, if a Persian Empire impulse is drawn, the Persian Empire launches an attack. In the game, the Persian Empire moves and attacks using the following priorities:
