3	Hiroyuki Yamada gives a lecture on pottery at 5:00 pm at the residence of the consulate general. Call Lauren Sethney at the consulate (713-652-2977, x-102) for more information and to RSVP. Note that events like this are typically conducted entirely in Japanese.
5	The film AKAI TSUKI (Red Moon) is shown on TV Japan from 7:00 pm to about 9:00 pm Houston time. This is a war time romance staring Takako Tokiwa and directed by Yasuo Furuhata, based on a best selling novel. TV Japan is widely watched by people living in Houston who are interested in Japan and is even shown in public places like the Sasaki (8979 Westheimer). See message no. 387 for more information.
8	Student-Teacher Japanese Conversation Group will meet at 7:00 pm at the Sakana Japanese Grill (6540 San Felipe). An RSVP is required for the meeting as always. This is a great opportunity for students to socialize and speak Japanese in a casual setting. Like other MeetUp events, this is organized using the MeetUp WWW site. 12	Houston area JROCK (Japanese rock music) meeting will be held at 3:00 pm at site selected by on-line voting if enough people join, participate in on-line voting, and RSVP. Like other MeetUp events, this is organized using the MeetUp WWW site.

18	Language Culture Kai (ladies group) of the Japanese Association of Greater Houston will hold some sort of visit somewhere to see antique jewelries, an event which is somehow considered related to Valentine Day. Contact the society at 713-963-0121 for further information.
22	Informal get-together of the Japanese Association of Greater Houston at Kubo's restaurant (2414 University Blvd.), 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Contact the host, Koji Kanagawa (no listed phone no.), via the JAGH for further information. The official language for all talk at JAGH events is Japanese.
26	The manga-based film NIN x NIN NINJA HATTORI-KUN will be shown by the Japanese Association of Greater Houston at the Westchester Academy for International Studies from 3:00 pm to 4:40 pm. Note that the official language for all talk at JAGH events is Japanese, so this film will not be dubbed or subtitled.
26	The 7th annual Texas Japan Bowl will be held at University of St. Thomas and will be run this year by the Japan America Society of Houston. Contact the society at 713-963-0121 for further information.
26	The anime convention ChibiCon will be held at Montgomery College about 30 miles to the north of Houston on Saturday, February 26th. See the WWW site for more information.
27	Asian Pacific American Heritage Day takes place at Bush Intercontinential Airport, terminal E, 11 am - 5 pm. In addition to the usual martial arts exhibits, Showing Japan will make a presentation of some kind starting at 11:40 am.
