- Not Rated: The recipient either has never been encountered by the IMP and pre-rating them would be unfair to the affiliation at this time.
- At War: The recipient is, by their own action, in a state of war with the Stellar Empire.
- No Visa: The recipient is not permitted to enter IMP territory. This level does not indicate hostile relations between the IMP and the recipient; rather it may be indicative that the recipient and the IMP simply have no relations at all.
- Restricted Travel Visa: The recipient is only permitted to transit Imperial territory only when escorted by Imperial warships, and may be limited as to where he may travel.
- Travel Visa: The recipient is only permitted to transit Imperial territory and may be limited as to where he may travel.
- Unrestricted Travel Visa: The recipient is permitted to travel anywhere within Imperial territory (other than those places quarantined by IMP), only. No limits will be imposed.

- Restricted Trade/Travel Visa: Same as Restricted Travel Visa, but allows trade. Limitations may be imposed as to what is traded.
- Limited Trade/Travel Visa: Same as Travel Visa, but allows trade. some limits may be imposed as to what is traded.
- Trade/Travel Visa: Same as Travel Visa, but allows trade. No limits are imposed as to what is traded.
- Unrestricted Trade/Travel Visa: Same as Unrestricted Travel Visa, but allows trade. No limits are imposed as to what is traded.
- Exploration Visa rider: This rider can be attached to any visa level above, but not below, in this list. It allows exploration of Imperial territory to be conducted by the recipient. All levels below, include this rider automatically.
- Colonization rider: This rider may be attached to any of the above listed levels, but not below listed levels (which already incorporate it). The recipient is permitted to colonize IMP territory. For each colony built/acquired, an IMP citizen (IMP affil., or IMP chartered company) must be permitted to build/acquire one in the recipient's territory. Any restrictions imposed upon the IMP citizen's colony will also be imposed upon the recipient's colony. The subtle difference between this and the colonization visa is that this requires IMP approval for each colony the recipient builds/acquires, on an individual basis.
- Colonization Visa: Same as Unrestricted Trade/Travel Visa, but allows colonization of Imperial territory. However, for each colony acquired, an Imperial Citizen (either Imperial Service or Imperial chartered company) must be allowed to build or acquire one in recipient's territory. Any conditions imposed upon the Imperial citizen's colony will also be imposed upon the recipient's colony.
- Most Favored Trade Partner Visa: Same as colonization visa. Further, the recipient enjoys some of the priveleges of a Chartered company, but may not join the CCCP, or the right to propose or vote on new IMP laws. This is an experimental new level and may be modified better or worse as experience indicates.
- Chartered company: This affiliation enjoys unrestricted (limited only by IMP laws & certain restrictions listed elsewere) colonization rights, exploration rights, travel rights, and trade rights. In addition the recipient enjoys the right to participate in voting with regard to the enactment of new Imperial laws, and the right to propose new Imperial laws. Finally the reciepient enjoys the possibility of obtaining membership on the CCCP, the company advisory council to the IMP.
- Ally: This is more than a mere visa. Imperial positions will fight beside the recipient's, and vice versa. Enemies of the recipient are enemies of the Empire, and vice versa.
