Saturday Family Workshops
These are family learning experiences to be shared by parents with children. Space is limited. pre-registration and payment in advance is required. children must be accompanied by an adult. Fee: Members - Children, $6; Adults $4 Non-members Children $9 Adults $6

Do you like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? How about chocolate chip rice krispy treats? If you do, then this workshop is for you. Make some edible earth creations that will teach you about rocks, earthquakes, and volcanoes.
Compare our inner workings to those of other vertebrates. Come and dissect a frog. Examine their digestive and reproductive systems. One specimen per family.
Note: There is a material fee of $5 per family
What's the difference between turtles and tortoises? Discover if turtles really do carry their home on their back. Come and meet the Museum's live turtles.
Step right up and take a chance. Try your arm and test your strength. We are holding a science carnival that will teach you the physics behind your favorite carnival and circus games.
When the sun goes down or the lights go out, you don't need to be in the dark. Visit the Science Museum to discover ways to light up your life. Be enlightened by learning how to make your face glow, freeze your shadow and concoct fluorescent goo.

Come and probe the heavens in search of the unknown. You will journey through space and study the planets and stars that make up our galaxy. If life is out there, you will discover how we can travel to visit and how ling it will take.

Discover what you can do to protect Mother Earth at the Science Museum. Learn to help animals and their habitat. Do your part to help keep our renewable resources alive!

What begins as a soft, wet egg, hatches in the water, and before turning into a four fingered five toed adult, has a larval stage? Amphibians, that's what! Meet some motley members of the amphibian family at this cold blooded workshop.

Walk through the woods as never before. Take a stroll through our forest and discover who lives there. Learn how the plants, animals, and mushrooms, make up our fantastic forest.

Have you ever wised you could fly? Well, do the next best thing... Learn how and why things fly. Make your own kite to take home, but first take it out for a test flight here on the preserve.

Don't be afraid anymore! Horseshoe crabs are harmless creatures of the sea. Scientists call them living fossils, and have now discovered how they can actually help us. Join us on an expedition to catch (an later release), examine, and learn about these mysterious creatures.

Study the art of making bubbles and see how it is really science! Learn the chemistry behind turning soap and water into "bubble juice". Try to make different shaped bubbles.
