There are many invisible forces that surround you. One of these forces keeps you on the planet. Another makes metal "sticky". Come to this workshop and learn about all the unseen forces that control our world.

QUAKIN' AND SHAKIN' EARTH Mondays - March 4, 11, 18
Discover the dynamic Earth and all the powerful forces of Mother Nature. Examine what causes earthquakes and volcanoes. Learn how rocks are formed as you eat some edible earth. Bring home your own erupting volcano.

Where are we in the universe? How big is our solar system? Learn about the stars, around in space. Study the stars in our portable planetarium, STARLAB.

New ideas are blossoming everyday at the Science Museum. Come work with a group of young botanists as we investigate how much fun experimenting with plants can be. We guarantee this class will grow on you! Collect your data, graph your results and bring your project home to continue.

New life is springing up everywhere. Baby chickens, frogs, bugs, and plants will be born in the class and you will be their proud parents. Learn how to take care of your new spring babies.

COME SAIL AWAY Thursdays - February 7, 14, 28
Become the skipper of your own yacht. In this class you will build and race your own ship. You won't be a dinghy after you learn how your boat reacts to the wind and water, and then finishes the race in first place.

Find out what makes a robot tick. Examine the motors, circuits, and gears that make it move. Make your own robot - a self propelled walking friend to take home.

Are you ready for an adventure? Come to this workshop to see if you can survive the great outdoors. Learn about nature and how to make a fire, seek shelter, purify water, and find food.

Designed for those who have successfully completed Basic Rocketry and want to expand their horizons. Learn about the mechanics of flight and what rockets have enabled people to do. Students will build an advanced rocket and launch it on the preserve.

Discover the mysteries hidden under the sea and beneath the sand. Join us all as we collect and examine crabs, fish, and other creatures of the deep. Explore the shores in search of worms, sea anemones, and more.

SCIENCE FAIR PREP Tuesdays, February 5, 12, 26
Don't procrastinate - your science fair is just around the corner. We invite students to use our facility and staff to help you set up, perform, and display your science fair project. We will guide you through the steps of the scientific method and give advice on how to win competitions and awards.

YOUNG SCIENTISTS Tuesday, April 16, 23, 30 & May 7, 14, 21
Do you love science? Join other young scientists in the pursuit for answers. The first class is planned by the instructor, but the group plans the rest. Topics for study can include biology, chemistry, physics, geology and astronomy.

Biotechnology is a fast growing field of science. Join us as we explore the world of recombinant genetics. You will learn culturing techniques, DNA splicing, and legation (joining). You will be giving bacteria a new trait for life.

Here's your chance to explore the many realms of science at your own pace. In this self-directed program, you will be paired with a science mentor who will guide you in a research project you design. Participants will be given lab space, a budget and use of all the equipment and resources at the Science Museum. This program is designed for mature and motivated individuals who are in search of answers. Candidates need mentor approval before registering.

If you're a girl and love science, then this special club is for you. Explore the world of science from a girl's point of view. Make perfume, jewelry or anything else that sparks your interest.
