CHEMYSTERY AND PHYZZICS

Behind the magic curtain and inside the wand, is the world of science. discover through learning the principles of physics and the nature of chemicals the answers to your questions of how and why. learn how lasers, electronics, crystals, and plastics perform amazing tricks. Become a scientific magician and amaze your friends and family with stunts, concoctions, and explosions that will blow their socks off.

NOTE: SESSION 1 WILL MEET FOR 4 DAYS ONLY. NO CAMP ON TUESDAY, JULY 4.

GADGETS AND GIZMOS

Scientific thinking has pioneered the way in creating today's technology. However, simple inventions, experiments, and mistakes made a huge difference in how things were discovered. By following in the footsteps of great inventors, you will create contraptions, machines, and instruments that boggle the mind and amaze the skeptics. Maybe you will win an award at the next Rube Goldberg Contest!.

 

NATURE'S FURY

Earthquakes, tidal waves, eruptions, landslides, tornadoes, and hurricanes plague the earth with destruction and devastation. join a group of thrill seeking geologist in an attempt to learn about the earth's powers in creation and destruction. By building volcanoes, geysers, and model civilizations we can recreate disasters and attempt to protect against the earth's restless nature.

THE GREAT OUTDOORS

Discover what nature has to offer. You'll need to know as we train for survival in mother nature's backyard. learn the secrets to finding and preparing a wild entree for dinner and an organic snack for dessert. You won't get left out in the cold after you build a shelter and learn how to build a fire.

 

THE LIVING SEA

Join a group of young marine biologists as we discover what lies beneath the deep blue sea. learn the skills of an oceanographer while you perform chemical tests, conduct experiments, and collect data. The group will master the techniques used in seining, trapping, and netting various creatures of the sea.

ALIEN CONTACT

Reach beyond the power of a telescope and probe the heavens to discover alien planets or beings. Learn the physics of space travel, build your own rocket and launch it. participate in astronaut training and learn how to navigate using the stars.

ADVENTURE SEEKERS

Have you ever wondered what it takes to climb a mountain, sail across the ocean, or hike in the wilderness? Feel the rush of adrenaline and the thrill of accomplishment while you learn the skills climbing, rappelling and orienteering. Each day the group will set out on a new challenge and work together to succeed at their mission

 

SUMMER CAMP EXTRAS

SCIENCE MANIA

Get ready for a week of science experiments that you choose. The sky's the limit! Cloning, DNA fingerprinting, dissection you name it and we'll do it. learn about all the things you've been curious about. at the end of the week, you can compete in a science Jeopardy game for prizes.

CHARGE ACCOUNTS:

Parents can elect to make a deposit into an account that campers can draw on during the week for snacks or shop items. Purchases are recorded for review by parents on request. Please list any guidelines for charge accounts on the registration and/or special form.

SNACKS:

Some snacks are available to summer campers. fruit juice, assorted chips, frozen fruit bars, and soda are priced between $.50 and $ 1.00.

T-SHIRTS:

Campers will receive one free junior scientist t-shirt. Extra t-shirts for your child ma be purchased at the museum shop.

SCIENCE PARTY

Each session ends with a science party for all campers. There are games, activities, contests and prizes. All campers participate.

GIFT SHOP:

All items in our Museum Store are science-related. They are all fun and interesting to children and adults! Most items are priced between $.25 and $ 4.00
