Previous South Coast Minerals No.3
Vivianite, Whale Chine, Isle of Wight.
A biogenic mineral formed in fossil remains by the reaction of phosphates from the fossil and iron in the mineralising fluids that formed the fossil cast. This is the same process that forms the spectacular specimens found in casts of bivalve shells near Kerch, on the Crimea Peninsula of Ukraine. Field of view 20mm.
