IMPORTANT NOTICE

In 1999 the 10th Southampton Mineral & Fossil Fair will be held at The Eastpoint Centre, Burgoyne Road on the outskirts of Southampton on Saturday 25th September

Eastpoint Centre is situated a few minutes from junction 8 on the M27 and is signposted from the A3024. There is ample on site parking and there is easy access for disabled visitors

Fair Details

This year, as usual to the wide variety of stands and displays of interest to mineral and fossil collectors, there will be three illustrated talks by well-known individuals. Everybody should find something of interest. There will be displays and sales of minerals and fossils from the British Isles and world-wide. Specialist dealers will be selling rare mineral specimens, crystals, cut and polished precious and semi-precious stones and even meteorites. Many people with a wealth of knowledge will be present to help with questions on the subject of mineral or fossil collecting or identification. Special features of the Fair for 1999 are:

• A display on "Minerals and Fossils of the Isle-of-Wight" by The I-of-W Museum of Geology.

Three illustrated talks:

• "How to Find Fossils", Steve Hutt, Curator, IOW Museum of Geology.
• "Mineral Collecting on the Isle of Skye", John Pearce, Sussex Mineral & Lapidary Society.
• "Theories of Dinosaur Extinction", Mike Howgate, Dinosaur Collectors Club.

• A display of Jurassic ammonites and other fossils from the South Coast.
• Southampton Geology Field Study Group with a display and information on the practical study of geology and will help with enquiries on mineral, rock and fossil identification.
• Southampton Mineral & Fossil Society will have a special display.
• Stands selling both new and second hand & antiquarian books on all geological subjects.
• Minerals from Southern Africa.
• A large range of minerals, crystals, cut & polished stones and jewellery.
• Tools, equipment, hand lenses, specimen boxes and all other accessories on sale.
• Fossils of all kinds from all over the world at prices to suit all pockets.
• Admission is £1 for adults and accompanied children under 14 free. Refreshments available.
