Introduction

For over twenty - five years we have conducted numerous player and coach clinics and hundreds of instructional camps. Throughout all these programs and with all the work we have put into instruction for both players and coaches, we have developed a number of drills designed and used in practice sessions by individuals and teams.

This manual reflects our attempt to introduce to both players and to coaches these drills. In fact, the drills that we are presenting can also be utilized by the average parent in working with his or her player. The teaching of specific drills enhances the improvement of the player. Quality of instruction is directly related to both practicing pertinent drills and the proper number of "reps" of these drills.

As in all of our instructional efforts we carefully subdivide the instruction into the following areas: fielding; hitting; training & conditioning; and pitching. By providing a variety of drills, one can alternate or selectively pick drills to work on during the course of a personal workout.

The essence of THE 1-MINUTE DRILL DIGEST is to promote the personal approach to practice. A player working with a partner; be it a teammate, a friend or even a relative can accomplish so much in a relatively short period of time. Self-starters in the 21st century are more the exception that the rule! But, by using the drills that we have selected make the idea of "practice on you own" a do-able phenomenon. We encourage and subscribe to this system!

I should note that these drills have been designed to be used year around regardless of weather, participation in other sports or size of a facility.

Your feedback is welcomed. Just drop us a note or give us a call. If we can be of further assistance in your pursuit of a better individualized practice. We cwill be glad to help. Good luck as you prepare yourself to become a better baseball player.

We are taking the concept one step farther by adding a section on our PRE-GAME PRACTICE ROUTINE that makes sense to a player regardless of his current level of play. All too often, there is a little time provided for ample pre-game work, and the average player does not sufficiently warm-up and prepare for the contest as he should. That is why we are including our structured, formatted pre-game rituals at this time.
