Transcendental Meditation

Transcendental Meditation was brought to the West in about 1958 by His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

It is now widely established after slowly losing its '60s "flower power" image. Recently the profile has been raised by well known people like Sir John Harvey-Jones and William Hague.

The benefits of the technique are widely documented and it is undoubtedly the simplest and most effective way to reduce stress and the effects of stress, and to enhance mental functioning. It is a way to enhance normal life, and in no way a retreat from the world.

Anyone can benefit from the technique whatever their profession, religion or way of life - personally I regard learning TM as the single most effective thing I have done.
