The purposes for holding an agricultural speech contest are:
1 . To provide an opportunity for speakers and those competition tofurther .enhance their communication abilities.
2. To provide an interesting program for the general public related to the agricultural community.
3 . To provide an opportunity for those not participating to observe different styles of public speaking.
1. Speech contestants must follow the general premium list rules andhave theirapplication blanks in one week before the contest with the speech title in the description section.
2. The speech topic is "Agriculture, A Basic Lesson in Living."
3. The speech times shall be 4 1/2 to 7 1/2 minutes. All speeches beyond 7 1/2 minutes will be terminated by the chairman and the speaker disqualified.
4. Speech contestants must report to the speaker's platform 30 minutes before the scheduled speech contest (i.e. 11:30 A.M.)
5. Speech timing will start after the introductory applause at the timethe first words are spoken by the contestant.
6. Time warning signals agreed upon before the contest starts will begiven at 5, 6, 7 minutes. Warning signals are green, orange and red lightsor placards, visible to the speaker.
7 . Judging will be based on the score, sheet.
The same rules as above with the following exceptions:
1. The contestant must be in high school or have received a high schooldiploma within the last 3 months.
2. The speech topic must be related to agriculture.
3. Speakers reporting time is 11:00 A.M.
