- Cheviot, Corriedale, Dorest, Hampshire, Merino, Southdown, Suffolk,
Tunis, and AOB breeds will compete separately.
- Youth must be under 19 years of age as of July lst of the current year.
- All sheep must be accompanied by health certificates issued within
30 days of their first show stating that sheep are free from infectious
and contagious diseases and are not from a scrapie-exposed
flock. All sheep must be vaccinated for rabies - see
General Rules.
- In addition to $4.00 entry fee per exhibitor - see general rules -
$0.50 per sheep must be sent with entry fee to Ginni Dodd, 15 Painter Hill
Road, Woodbury, CT 06798. Make checks payable to: Connecticut Agricultural
Fair, Inc.
- Exhibitors are limited to entering not more than two breeds PER FAMILY/
FARM NAME and can have no more than two entries per class excepting group
classes where only one will be permitted. PLEASE NOTE BREED OF SHEEP WITH
EACH ENTRY. ALSO AGE AND DATE OF BIRTH - IF ENTRY IS FOR YOUTH. Entries
close June 30, 1997 - so send in early!! SPACE IS LIMITED!!
- Exhibitors must furnish their own feed and hay. Bedding will be provided.
Each exhibitor will be held responsible for keeping aisles free from feed,
hay and debris for the general appearance of their exhibit, including clean
water throughout the weekend of the fair.
- Certificates of registry must accompany each animal and be made available
to the superintendents upon request. Registration tags must correspond
with each certificate and be in the sheep's ear.
- Owner or shepherd must be present at time of judging.
- Sheep must be in show condition, blocked and fitted. Dirty or unfit
sheep will not be accepted.
- Split lamb classes will be: Fall - Sept. 1st to Dec. 31st. Int. - Jan.
1st and after.
- Sheep entering group classes must have been shown in individual classes.
Market Lambs must be smoothly shorn. No Market Lambs allowed in breed classes.
No rams allowed in Market Lamb classes. Weighing of Market Lambs will be,
8:30 A.M. Saturday.
- You may pen animals, Friday - deadline 8:00 A.M. Saturday.
- Scheduleofevents:9:OOA.M. Saturday 'Breed classes-Cheviot, Corriedale,
Dorset, Hampshire, Merino, Southdown, Suffolk, Tunis, AOB, and Market Lamb.
- Cancellation: If for any reason you must cancel, please notify Ginni
Dodd immediately.

DY Youth Class - Judged separately using same classes as
Adult ( under 19 years as of July 1st ). One (1) per
class per exhibitor. Use youth symbol DY on entry
form to show youth class.- Age and birth date should
be given on entry blank. Youth class will be judged
10:00 a.m. Sunday.
D17. Herdsmanship Contest - The Connecticut Agricultural
Fair will award a cash prize for $25.00 to the
exhibitor, doing the best job of caring for his/ her
sheep and exhibit during the fair. Judging will take
place daily.
