FAIR FLAGS
Who may enter: All residents of Connecticut. Prizes will be awarded in two divisions at each fair. Youth ( up through age 15 ) and Adult ( age 16 and over ).
Local Contest: Exhibits may be entered at any fair which is a member of the Litchfield County Council of Fairs. Contestants may enter their exhibit in as many fairs as they wish until they win first prize. First prize winners at each fair in both the Youth and Adult Divisions will be awarded Blue Rosettes by the Litchfield County Council of Fairs. They will then represent that fair in the county contest. Local winners must contact the Secretary of that Fair for information about the dinner reservations, time and place of the fall meeting.
County Contest: First prize winners from each fair in each Fair in each division will be eligible to enter their exhibit in the County Contest to be held at the fall meeting of the Litcfield County Council of Fairs, the last Wednesday of October. Entries must be in place by 6:30 P.M. to be judged. Any contestant with multiple entries in the County Contest will be eligible to receive only one prize.
County Prizes: Rosettes and cash prizes will be awarded in each Division as follows: First prize - $25.00; Second Place - $20.00; Third Place - $15.00; Fourth Place - $10.00; Fifth through Ninth Places - $5.00
Contest Rules: The theme of the Flag is "THE FAIR". Flag not to be larger than 2'x3' with scene on one side only. It may be painted, appliqued, sewn, glued or quilted. It is to resemble seasonal and decorative flags that are displayed on homes. The Fair scene can be general or a favorite scene from your Fair. Please include an index card with the title of your flag and the Fair from which you chose as a theme.
Judging: Originality - 30%; Workmanship - 25%; Functionality - 25%; Suitability of Materials - 20%
