1. RULES
a. This contest being held at the Connecticut Agricultural Fair for members of Granges in Connecticut only.
b. No Connecticut Agricultural Fair entry fee is required. Do not list these exhibitions on a Fair entry blank.
c.These will be no Junior, Subordinate or Pomona level Judging.
d. Entries must be at the Art Exhibit Department by 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 25, 1997 and judging will be held the same day.
e. No exhibits are to be removed before 6:00 P.M. Sunday July 27, 1997 but all must be removed by 8:00 P.M. except first place winners.
f. The final competition at the National Grange Conventyion in November will be limited to one top State winner in each class for Subordinate members and also for Junior members. All entries must be the work of one member. At the National competition the judges will adhere to the rules, and will be guided by the following criteria: 1. Craftsmanship and Skill; 2. Originality; #. Use of medium; 4. Presentation
2. CLASSES - entries may be made in the following classes
a. Landscapess/Seascapes
b. Still Life
c. Portraits
d. Abstracts
3. DIVISION I -Subordinate Members
a. Eligibilty = open to all Subordinate members in good standing regardless of age.
b. All entries must be original work of the member making the entry and must be produced after September 1, 1996.
c. Size - including frame & backing not larger than 24" x 36". Ther is no Min. size.
d. The art work must be supported by frame or backing to make it possible to disdplay the work for exhibition and judging.
e. Nudes will NOT BE ACCEPTED.
f. Any entry with glass will be disqualified at National Grange. Acetate of plastic may be used if desired to protect the picture.
g. Computer Art is not permitted.
h. Sculpture is not permitted.
i. All entries submitted to the National Grange Art Contest mus have the following information securely attached to the entry: STATE, COUNTY/POMONA, NAME, CLASS, ADDRESS ( complete with zip code ), DIVISION, AGE (only if in Junior Division ), GRANGE
4. DIVISION II - Junior Members
a. Open to all members of the Junior Grange in good standing. There are two age groups: 5 to 9 and 10 to 14.
b. All other rules shall be the same as Division I.
5. AWARDS
a. State awards shall consist of first, second, and third place ribbons for each class in each of the two divisions, and $3.00, $2.00, $1.00 cash.
b. National awards shall consist of first, second and third place ribbons for each of the two divisions and each class.
c.National cash awards shall be as follows for each age group of the Junior Division: Landscape/Seascape, Still Life, Portraits, and Abstracts - $15.00, $10.00 $5.00 each. Best of Show $25.00.
d. National cash awards shall be as follows for the Subordinate Division: Landscape/Seascape, Still Life, Portraits, and Abstracts - $35.00, $25.00 $15.00 each. Best of Show $100.00.
