If you're willing to spend around $100 then take a look at HoTMetaL or HomeSite. If you're willing to spend more, then take a look at ColdFusion, Dreamweaver or NetObjects Fusion. Low cost development can be done with a text editor (NotePad) for coding and your browser for testing. (You should always test with Netscape or Internet Explorer. Both would be best.) Books are available along with online resources about HTML Syntax. For the last 5 years or so and currently, these pages are being developed in this manner. I have several books on HTML, I edit the HTML files with The Semware Editor and test them with Netscape and Internet Explorer. My search for a WYSIWYG HTML Editor is over. I selected HoTMetaL. So far -- I'm very happy with it and should be a big help with this web site and others that I help with. I KNOW that even with the HTML Editor I will still use my books, browsers and text editor. I can not imagine trying to develop a web site without some reference materials. For me books are my choice. You must test your site with a browser. You need to see what your readers will see. A good text editor is always a handy tool to have. Knowledge of HTML, and many of the other web related subjects, is required or at least beneficial. Currently, the tools aren't available to produce useful web sites without some level of knowledge about HTML and related topics. comments welcome Started: 02/10/2000 Last: 02/24/2000 |
