| Rockhopper and Yellow-eyed |
The Yellow-eyed Penguins are all round the Island in small numbers.
The small Rockhopper colony is at Smoothwater Bay, just north of Perseverance
Harbour. Occasionally a solitary King penguin has been found moulting on
the Island. When we visited in 1995 two Chinstrap penguins were observed
(presumed lost) on the Island. |
You can only get to Campbell Island by ship. There are few ships that
visit the Island, the Klebnikov visits occasionally as does the Bremen.
Most of the trips are on the Akademik Shokalski operated by Southern Heritage
Expeditions. See our Tour Operators page for details |
