Adelie, Chinstrap, Gentoo and a few Emperors There are many colonies on the islands off the peninsula itself and on the main peninsula. The further south the greater chance of encountering Emperor Penguins.  You can only get to the Peninsula by ship. About 12 cruise ships operate to the Antarctic Peninsula. Cruises vary in length as well as in the places they try to visit. All spend at least 2 days around the peninsula and try to make several landings to penguin colonies and sometimes visits to research stations. See our Tour Operators page for details
