- This is Pedigree's main screen with drop down menus and a bottom block of relevant keys to select current options. F1 brings up a full screen of specific context sensitive help with backup from a 140 page spiral-bound manual written by

- The rest of the screen has a 3-generation family browse section from which you can navigate to ancestors or descendants, and one of 20 lists selected on the right. These are user created from 4-key sorted indices, plans or filtered lists of any of the seven possible record types. This is the quickest way to select a record by name or any other key that you choose.
- Searching, finding or filtering is done using Pedigree or PediTree powerful picture scripting language. A particular type of record or index is chosen from which sublists can be made using words like father.father.marriages.children.surname contains "son" and treeref <"D". The list can be browsed or printed using the table report type.

- Finally, the bottom right panel is a Detail Box of information that you choose to show information fields and records related to the red highlighted person in the list or in the family panel. This can be tailored to show whatever detail that you choose with your own sequence and abbreviations using ...
- Editing can be done with the red bar over any record in the family or list boxes. Simple fields such as prefix, surname, forenames, postfix, title and nickname are edited on a line, whilst event notes may be expanded to 255 characters. Long notes or text in Source records may be up to 4095 characters, and may be repeated up to 255 times like all the main fields.
